SBI Junior Associate Selection Process 2026
Selection to the post of Junior Associate is made through a three-phase process with no interview stage:
- Phase 1 — Preliminary Examination (Screening): A 1-hour computer-based test of 100 questions (100 marks) with strictly enforced 20-minute sectional timings. Marks scored in Prelims are for shortlisting purposes only and are not added to the final merit list.
- Phase 2 — Main Examination (Merit Deciding): An online objective examination of 190 questions (200 marks) spanning 2 hours 40 minutes across four sections. Final merit ranking and circle allotment are determined purely by Mains performance.
- Phase 3 — Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Candidates must demonstrate reading, writing, speaking, and understanding skills in the specified opt local language of the State/Circle applied for.

Official Negative Marking & Cutoff Rules
- ✔ +1.00 Mark is awarded for every correct response in the Preliminary examination.
- ✘ -0.25 Marks (1/4th Penalty) of the marks assigned to that question are deducted for every incorrect response in both Prelims and Mains.
- ➖ 0 Marks for unattempted or unanswered questions (no penalty).
- NO Sectional Cut-Off: State Bank of India does NOT enforce minimum qualifying marks for individual sections. Candidates are shortlisted for Mains purely on the basis of overall aggregate marks in each category.
