Calculate Your APPSC Group 2 Score
Accepted formats: numbered (1-A, 2:C, 3. D, 4) B or "5 A") or a plain sequence of letters (A B C D). Use X or _ for a question you left blank. Only options A–D count as answers; anything else is treated as unattempted. If your answer or key sheet uses 1–4 for options, a plain list of digits also works.
Question ranges for each section
The ranges below assume the sections appear in the order shown. If your question paper is arranged differently, change the ranges; the total score does not depend on them.
About the APPSC Group 2 Score Calculator
The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission has issued Brief Notification No. 37/2026 for Group-II services with 686 provisional vacancies. Selection has three stages: an offline Screening Test, a two-paper Main Examination and a Computer Proficiency Test. This calculator covers the two objective stages, where every wrong answer costs one-third of a mark.
Exam pattern used by this tool
| Stage | Paper | Questions | Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Screening Test | General Studies & Mental Ability | 150 | 150 | 150 min |
| Main Examination | Paper I – Social History of AP; Indian Constitution | 150 | 150 | 150 min |
| Main Examination | Paper II – Indian & AP Economy; Science & Technology | 150 | 150 | 150 min |
The Screening Test is split into five blocks of 30 marks each: Indian History, Geography, Indian Society, Current Affairs and Mental Ability. Each Mains paper has two sections of 75 marks.
The formula
Each question is worth 1 mark, so a wrong answer costs 0.33 marks and every three wrong answers cancel one correct answer.
Worked example
A candidate attempts 132 of the 150 questions in the Screening Test and gets 96 right and 36 wrong. The score is 96 − (36 ÷ 3) = 84.00 out of 150. Had the candidate skipped the 12 least certain of the wrong answers, the penalty would fall by 4 marks.
How to use the answer-key mode
- Select the stage, then open the "Compare with answer key" tab.
- Paste your marked answers from your copy of the question paper, in order, as a numbered list (1-A, 2-C…) or as a plain sequence of letters. Mark blanks as X.
- Paste the official key in the same way, using * for any dropped or bonus question.
- Check the section ranges and press Calculate. The tool lists your wrong question numbers so you can review them.
What this tool cannot do
It does not know the final key, any revisions after objections, normalisation, or cut-offs. For the CPT (60 minutes, 100 marks, minimum marks 30 for SC/ST/PBD, 35 for BC and 40 for OC), see our Group 2 guide. Dates and eligibility for 2026 will be confirmed in the detailed notification due on or before 10 November 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a negative mark in APPSC Group 2?
Yes. According to the brief notification, one-third of the marks of a question is deducted for each wrong answer in the Screening Test, and negative marking applies in the Main Examination too. Unattempted questions carry no penalty.
Why does this calculator not take a response-sheet link?
The Group 2 Screening Test is an offline OMR test, so there is no online response sheet. You enter your counts, or paste your marked answers and the official key, and the calculator does the arithmetic in your browser.
What does * mean in the answer key?
Use * for a question that the commission dropped or treated as a bonus. It is counted as correct for everyone, because marks for such questions are usually given to all candidates. Check the commission's final key notice for how a particular question was handled.
Can I trust the result as my final score?
No. This is an informational estimate based on the key you enter. The final key, normalisation (if any) and result are decided by APPSC.
Do the section ranges matter?
Only for the section-wise breakdown. The total score is the same whichever ranges you use, but if your paper arranges the blocks in a different order, adjust the ranges to match.
